Woman fighting for her life, man seriously injured following domestic incident in Dublin

A woman is fighting for her life and a man has been hospitalised following a domestic incident in a property on Gardiner Street in Dublin’s north inner city.

The incident which happened near the corner of Dorset Street was reported at approximately 11.30pm on Tuesday night.

The property was sealed off as gardaí, Dublin Fire Brigade and paramedics attended the scene.

It’s understood that the woman was critically injured in the incident. The male individual was also seriously injured and was transferred to the Mater Hospital, Dublin 1.

Gardaí based at Mountjoy Garda Station are investigating.

A local woman who came on the aftermath of the scene said that she saw the commotion just after 12am.

“I saw loads of flashing lights and I saw the ambulances and gardaí,” she told Independent.ie.

“I saw a man being carried out of the building on a stretcher. He had an oxygen mask on his face and I don’t know if he was conscious,” the 60-year-old mother of two added.

“I saw what appeared to be a woman talking to gardaí on the footpath outside the building and she broke down as she spoke. It’s terrible,” said the shocked local woman.

Among the garda vehicles at the scene were a number of armed support unit as well as at least three fire engines and a number of ambulances.
