Woman evacuated from cruise ship following nosebleed
An elderly woman had to evacuated from a cruise ship late last night after suffering an uncontrollable nose bleed.
The emergency occurred on the Thomson Spirit ship as it was just south of Strangford Lough off the north coast at 10pm.
A doctor on board the vessel made the decision to call for coastguard help when the bleeding could not be stopped in the woman in her 70’s.
The coastguard requested the help of the search and rescue helicopter 116 based at Dublin Airport who met the ship and transferred the patient back to Dublin Airport from where she was transferred to Beaumont Hospital by ambulance.
