A COUPLE from Co Kildare scooped the top prize in the Euromillions plus draw, it has been revealed.

The married couple only found out this morning that they had won the €500,000 top prize in last Tuesday's draw.

The wife from the4 pair, who are choosing to remain anonymous, explained how she made the discovery while checking old tickets.

They then drove straight to National Lottery offices in Dublin to collect their cheque.

“I’d a few tickets in my purse and was checking them on the scanner this morning when a message came up to contact the National Lottery”, she said.

“So when I got back home, I checked the results online. At first I thought it was €500 - I had to get my daughter to help me see that it was €500,000, I just couldn’t believe it!” she continued.

“She started screaming”, the husband said.

“And I said ‘Stop shouting! Stop shouting!’  There was so much excitement in the house!”

The winning ticket was bought as part of a  €3 Quick Pick ticket in News 4 U, Glenroyal Shopping Centre, in Maynooth.

They plan to pay off their mortgage and then let the news settle before they decide how they will spend the rest of their winnings.
