Woman dies and three hospitalised after traffic accident

A FEMALE driver has died after a traffic accident on the N6 this afternoon, and three others people have been hospitalised.

Gardaí in Oranmore in Co Galway are investigating the collision approximately 3kms from Craughwell on the Oranmore to Craughwell Road at approximately 4.20pm.

The woman, who was in her mid 50s, was fatally injured in the collision. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The three occupants of the other car were removed to University Hospital Galway with what is described as non life threatening injuries.

The road is currently closed to facilitate Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. Local diversions are in place.
