Woman critical after river rescue

A woman is in a critical condition after she was rescued from the River Shannon in Limerick city.

The incident occurred at Harvey’s Quay at around 8.40pm.

The alarm was raised when two men spotted the woman in difficulty and entered the water to rescue her.

All three were assisted by Limerick Fire Brigade and Limerick river rescue.

The men did not require any treatment but the woman was taken to Limerick University Hospital where she was said to be in a critical condition.
