Woman and two men held over tiger kidnapping

Shane Phelan Investigative Correspondent

THREE people were being arrested yesterday in connection with a €300,000 tiger kidnapping during which armed robbers held two young children hostage.

The arrests come 10 months after Bank of Ireland official Nicola Hall and her family were subjected to a horrific ordeal at the hands of armed thugs.

The bank official was forced to get the cash from her branch in Inchicore, Dublin, while her husband John, their six-year-old son and three-year-old daughter were tied up and held in a van for over six hours.

The investigation has been focused on a gang from the south side of the city and yesterday morning detectives swooped to arrest two men and a woman in Crumlin. A car was also seized during the operation.

One man (41) and the woman(37) were being held at Lucan and Ronanstown garda stations respectively. The third person arrested, a 19-year-old man, was last night released without charge. A file is being prepared for the DPP.
