Woman and grandson injured after car incident outside Dublin school

A woman and child have been injured after being struck by a car outside a school near Finglas in Dublin.

The accident happened outside the Mother of Divine Grace school in Ballygall, at around 3pm today.

Witnesses say the woman and child, a grandmother and grandson, were struck by one car shortly after the children were being collected from the school.

Both were treated at the scene on Glasanon Road by paramedics and rushed to hospital where they remained this evening.

The woman (60) was taken to the Mater Hospital where it is understood she is being treated for a broken pelvis, among other injuries.

The boy (7) was brought to Temple Street Children’s Hospital where his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening but he was being held for observation overnight.

Gardai have interviewed the driver and witnesses to the incident.
