Woman (60s) killed after car collides with lorry

A woman in her 60s has died after a car accident in Co Offaly this morning.

The collision occurred at around 11:20am on the N52 Kilcormac to Tullamore road just outside Kilcormac, when a car collided with a transport lorry.

The driver of the lorry was uninjured in the collision.

The driver and passenger of the car, both women in their 60s, were transferred to Midlands Regional Hospital, Tullamore for treatment.

It is understood the injuries of the passenger are not life threatening.

The driver of the car was pronounced dead at Midlands Regional Hospital, Tullamore.

The road was closed for a time to facilitate a forensic collision investigation but has since reopened.
