Witnesses attempt to capture armed robber after raid in city centre

Several witnesses tried to capture an armed robber who threatened staff in a shop in Dublin city centre with a knife, gardaí have said.

Gardaí are now looking for any of these members of the public, or anybody who may have witnessed the event to come forward with information.

At around 12:15pm on Saturday, a man entered a premises on South Leinster Street and threatened staff with a knife before leaving with a sum of money.

Members of the public tried to capture the robber, but he escaped and ran in the direction of Westland Row.

The man, who was wearing a blue/navy puffa type jacket, is believed to have gotten into a taxi somewhere between Westland Row and Lincoln Place.

Gardaí are now appealing for anybody who witnessed the incident, attempted to apprehend the man or took a photo or video of the event to contact them.
