The heartbroken wife of a pensioner who vanished 24 weeks ago when he put out the bin has made a desperate plea for information.
Thomas Kennedy disappeared on the night of July 29th just after two neighbours spotted him outside his Finglas home.
His wife Fran said despite the alarm being raised within hours, extensive searches in the area and a massive poster campaign, the 81-year-old has never been spotted again.
The last sighting of Mr Kennedy on CCTV was when he went to pick his granddaughter up from school earlier that afternoon.
“If there’s somebody out there who’s any inclination we’d be very grateful,” Mrs Kennedy told RTE’s Joe Duffy.
Mrs Kennedy said her husband, who had health problems, had never gone missing before and vowed to keep searching, even if he has passed on so he can be cremated and his ashes scattered.
Her husband of 46 years was getting ready for bed when he went to put out the bins so all his belongings, including his bank card, mobile phone and medication were in his bedroom.
The only item in his pocket was his travel card, but there has been no sighting of him on any bus or train journeys.
The family, who cancelled a holiday to Disneyland in Florida in September, said Mr Kennedy was disappointed after being diagnosed with a cyst on his leg, a lung abscess, and he was saddened by the death of a sibling.
“There’s no way the man is hiding, he wasn’t that kind of man,” Mrs Kennedy added on RTE Radio One.
“I know there’s no way he decided ‘I’m packing my bag and I’m going’ because he didn’t do that.”
