Why your 'Weekend' magazine is a Blooming good read

READERS of the Irish Independent's 'Weekend' magazine can look forward to a bumper issue tomorrow as it teams up with Bloom, Ireland's largest gardening, food and family event.

The Irish Independent is the official media sponsor of Bloom and has produced a definitive 16-page guide to the event, which takes place in the Phoenix Park over the June bank holiday weekend.

Readers will enjoy a preview of the 2013 show gardens, schedules for the various areas, pull-out maps and much more.

Elsewhere, Rob Kearney took time out of his Lions training schedule to spend the day with 'Weekend' writer Eoin Butler, and showed his lighter side by taking part in a photoshoot in which he channelled 'The Odd Couple's' Felix Unger, the perfect foil to Butler's Oscar Madison.

In the candid interview, the three-time Heineken Cup winner reflects on his career ups and downs, and outlines his plans for the future, admitting that he would follow his ex-teammate Jonny Sexton to France should the opportunity arise.

"France is an awesome country," he tells Butler. "If I was ever to leave Leinster, that's definitely where I'd go."

And while he insists that he is currently single, he admits that he has no shortage of offers: "I'm wise enough to know that if I didn't do this for a living, the messages wouldn't be coming."

For your 16-page Bloom special, and the full interview with Rob Kearney, pick up tomorrow's 'Weekend' magazine.
