GARDA whistleblower John Wilson has said he is happy that Justice Minister Alan Shatter has corrected the record of the Dail.

Asked last night by 'Late Late Show' host Ryan Tubridy if he accepted the minister's apology, Mr Wilson repeated: "I'm happy that he has corrected the record of the Dail.

"I believe his behaviour throughout all of this in relation to the penalty points scandal has been deplorable."

He added there was "no doubt" Mr Shatter should resign.

Referring to Martin Callinan's decision to quit as Garda Commissioner, he said: "I take no pleasure in the demise of any human being and Martin Callinan has done this country some service but it was the right decision to go... I believe his position had become totally untenable."
