Former Ireland footballer Kevin Kilbane (42) has revealed he has fallen in love with his 'Dancing on Ice' partner, professional skater Brianne Delcourt.

The footballer was eliminated from the show on Sunday night, but he agreed with presenter Holly Willoughby he was going home with Brianne (38), who was the "ultimate prize".

Speaking on Today FM's 'Dermot and Dave' yesterday, he told how he made the first move.

"It was me, I made the first move, and I got a custard pie to start with. I asked her out and she said 'no' and then it just happened," he said.

He revealed they had already told one another they loved each other.

"I genuinely do feel blessed because we were both single going into it and that was the beauty of it all.

"It just happened, it was just natural. It's not been anything forced, we've fallen in love and that's it," Kevin added.

The pair met in September last year, after they were first paired for the show.

Kilbane insisted their relationship was not just a holiday romance.

"Of course we've had fun going through it all but I think once feelings start to come into play and you start to discuss futures, that's when it becomes very real," he said.

"The whole experience has been great but it was great because I met Brianne."

The pair appeared on ITV's 'Lorraine' morning show on Friday and said that even though they have been in a relationship for four months, "everything happened very quickly".

"When we first got together - we met what seems a long time ago now - it doesn't seem like four months. Everything happened very quickly.

"I certainly knew straight away," said Kilbane.

"I still had huge reservations even when I'd signed up for the show, and obviously then Brianne and I got together and everything's been great, everything's gone really well.

"I could have actually quit before the show even started, I think that's how it went for me. But it's gone great and I'm absolutely delighted."

The loved-up couple admitted that they attempted to hide their relationship but that it was "obvious".

"I think because Kevin's private... I'm a mum too, and I try to keep things private," said Delcourt.

"At first we didn't want to say too much, but we didn't want to lie at the same time. It is obvious."

The former footballer also told Dermot and Dave that he and 'Love Island' star Maura Higgins are losing out on the "Irish vote".

"The problem was, there was no Irish vote.

"You couldn't vote over there (Ireland). I was even talking to Maura about it last night.

"We were talking about it, we're losing out on a lot of votes... That needs sorting."
