West's asleep as only one flight leaves

SHANNON airport was ash-bound again last night.

Apart from a Ryanair help desk yesterday where some disgruntled passengers gathered in a bid to make alternative travel arrangements, there was virtually no sign of life at the airport.

Only one flight managed to get off the tarmac -- the 12.30pm EI 133 flight to Boston.

American student Sarah Labins (20) has spent the last week in Ireland. She was due to fly back to France yesterday where she is studying French at Rennes. "The next flight to France is not until next Tuesday so hopefully we will get out then, but nobody is too sure. We have absolutely no idea what to do about accommodation until then," she said.
