Westmeath student dies in road accident in England

POLICE are appealing for information after a Co Westmeath student died in a road accident in England.

The man (18) was struck by a truck while walking along the A2 in Canterbury yesterday morning, it is understood.

He has been named locally as Philip Ganly of Drumrainey near Athlone. It is understood he had been studying in Canterbury.

Kent police say he was hit by a white HGV.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.
