Weeping mother supported by family at funeral of three crash victim sons

HUNDREDS of mourners have attended the funeral of three brothers who were killed in a car crash last Friday.

The bodies of Darren (27), David (24) and Ryan Doyle (17) were removed from Maher’s Chapel of Rest, in Portarlington, at 10.20am this morning and brought to the Church of the Sacred Heart, Killinarden, Tallaght for the funeral mass at noon.

Their weeping mother Angela was supported by her husband John and other family members as they arrived at the church a few minutes after noon.

A framed photograph of each of the men, along with a candle, was placed on each of the coffins.

The brothers had been baptised in the church before the family had moved to Co Laois five years ago.

Local priest Fr Manus Ferry told the mourners there was no answers as to why the horrific accident had happened. He said that while he could tell people that everything would be alright, it was clear from looking around today that things weren't alright.

Their older brother Jason told the mourners how Darren and David were 'inseparable' growing up. And when Ryan was born the three brothers spent all their time together.

The men were killed when the Honda Civic they were travelling in struck a mini-bus on the R420 Tullamore to Geashill road, about 2km outside Offaly’s county town on Friday. A fourth occupant of the car, Lee Bryan, was also killed.

Cremation of the three brothers took place at Newlands Cross crematorium afterwards.

The funeral of the fourth victim of the crash, Mr Bryan, will take place in his native Portarlington today.
