Weekend Lotto to hit €2.5m mark

THE weekend Lotto jackpot is headed for €2.5m after the mid-week draw failed to produce a winner.

The numbers were 14, 16, 20, 22, 31 and 43. The bonus was 24. The jackpot was €2m. A total of 19 match-five winners got €2,560.

There was no winner of the top €350,000 prize in the Lotto Plus 1. The numbers were 3, 18, 24, 31, 42 and 43 and bonus 17. One match-five-plus-bonus winner got €3,500.

There was no winner of the top €250,000 prize in the Lotto Plus 1. The numbers were 5, 12, 21, 23, 31 and 45. and bonus 29. One match-five-plus-bonus winner got €2,500.

Dracula desk to be auctioned as art

The desk where Bram Stoker wrote 'Dracula' is going up for auction next month after having been restored and turned into a work of art.

The desk, which will be auctioned in Los Angeles on December 15 or 16, has had a long history, which has left it battered. It is expected to fetch between €42,000-€61,000.

Probe as pensioner killed by car

GARDAI are trying to establish the circumstances behind the death of an elderly man who was knocked down by a car.

The pedestrian in his late 60s was seriously injured in the incident at Tully, Inverin, in Connemara, Co Galway, at about 6.30 last night. He was rushed to University Hospital Galway but died later.

Consultant sent forward for trial

A TRANSPORT consultant has been sent forward for trial on charges of operating and living off the profits of brothels.

Thomas Lyons (54), of the Warrens, Malahide, Co Dublin, faces seven charges under the Criminal Law Sexual Offences Act. His co-accused Zelandia Silva (43), with an address at the Matthews, O'Callaghan Strand, Limerick, faces seven charges under the same legislation. Both were remanded on continuing bail to the next sittings of the Limerick Circuit Criminal Court.
