Weather takes its toll on events

A number of events due to be held around the country were cancelled as the icy weather gripped the nation.

  • Kilkenny: Mealy's auctioneers in Castlecomer deferred a fine art sale until next Tuesday.
  • Meath: Tomorrow's race meeting at Navan was cancelled after a Turf Club inspection found the track was unfit for racing because of snow.
  • Laois: Sheppard's Auctioneers cancelled a sale of Asian art until December 7.
  • Waterford: A jury due to sit at Waterford Circuit Court was told to stay away because of the adverse weather and poor driving conditions in the area.
