PUT away the buckets and spades and put on your raincoat as heavy rain and strong winds are expected to sweep the country tomorrow night.

Most of the country will remain dry during the day tomorrow with rain expected in the South West late tomorrow night.

Sunday will see wide spread heavy rain along with strong winds throughout the country.

There is no sign of the summer sun returning anytime soon with poor conditions expected to continue into next week.

Temperatures are expected to sink to as low as 14 degrees during the course of next week as the Irish Summer continues to bring wet and blustery conditions.

The poor weather is likely to put a dampener on many of the festivals taking place across the country this weekend, with extra precautions being taken by organisers at the Tullamore Livestock Show to ensure the bad weather doesn’t spoil the fun.
