'We will not get carried away' - Dublin work syndicate pick up €88.5m lotto win
Ireland's newest millionaires plan to celebrate 'quietly' after scooping an €88.5m EuroMillions jackpot.
The syndicate collected their substantial winnings at Lotto HQ on Thursday, after winning the jackpot in the Tuesday January 24 draw.
The ticket was bought at a M1 Service station in on the M1 in Lusk, Co. Dublin.
The modest winners said they will not get carried away with the win and plan to return to normal life.
"We are absolutely delighted. We all have bills to pay with mortgages, loans and whatnot so we are looking forward to the financial freedom that comes with a win of this magnitude,’ a spokesperson for the syndicate said.
"We will be having a quiet party with family and friends to celebrate our good fortune. We will not be getting carried away with our win and we will return to normal everyday life as soon as possible. We’re looking forward to enjoying the win with our families and we might indulge by booking our sun holidays in the next couple of days,’ added the spokesperson.
The syndicate learned of their win on the night of the EuroMillions draw when one of the syndicate members checked the winning ticket on their phone.
"I was aware that the EuroMillions jackpot was won in Ireland so I had to check the ticket straight away. I scanned the ticket on the National Lottery App and a message flashed up which told me that I had to contact the National Lottery.
"When I checked the numbers, I was speechless, I couldn’t believe it. It was such an incredible feeling,’ they added.
