Aer Lingus has warned its customers over an email scam claiming to offer flight vouchers as part of its 80-year anniversary.

The email, which has been widely circulated from a bogus account, offers people the chance to claim two tickets to a luxury location "for the small price of 10 Eur [sic]".

A link is also attached to the scam email which Aer Lingus has warned customers not to open.

The company has confirmed it is not a legitimate Aer Lingus email and has advised people not to engage with it further.

The email begins with the subject: "Promotional offer - Claim your flight voucher today 05 August, 2019 | You've been selected for a special treat."

Responding to a number of queries on its social media account this week, Aer Lingus said its web security team had been made aware of the issue.
