THE widow of the tragic Priory Hall campaigner Fiachra Daly said she was "blown-away" by the crowds that turned out to support her family at a walk in honour of her late partner.

'The Big Howth Walk 2013', which was organised by friends of the couple, took place yesterday to help support Stephanie Meehan and her children, Oisin (8) and Cerys (2).

Mr Daly took his own life in July following financial pressure and anxiety caused by the closure of Priory Hall.

"I am absolutely blown away by their generosity and their time. I was nervous going into it obviously, but it has been very, very nice," Ms Meehan said.

Priory Hall was closed by Dublin City Council in October 2011 after it was deemed to be a fire hazard. More than 600 people took part in the walk, which raised €6,000.

"A friend of ours came over from Barcelona for it. Fiachra's family came from Donegal. A lot of the Priory Hall residents were there, which was incredible. We are all so close," she said.

Mr Daly would have been 38 this Thursday and Ms Meehan said she will spend the day with their children. "It will be very quiet. But we will of course go to the grave, and just mark it very quietly," she said.
