Vodafone boss and children escape blaze
THE head of Vodafone Ireland and his three children had a lucky escape after a fire engulfed a room in their home early on Christmas Day.
Jeroen Hoencamp – who is leaving his post as CEO of Vodafone Ireland at the end of January – and his three young children were forced to flee their home in Sandycove, south Dublin, in the early hours of Christmas Day when a fire broke out in an upstairs room.
However, they escaped unharmed and the fire did not spread to the bedrooms.
"There was a fire in his home over Christmas but it was contained," a Vodafone spokesperson said, adding: "Everybody is safe and well."
The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
Mr Hoencamp is due to take on his new role as enterprise director of Vodafone UK and executive director of Cable & Wireless Worldwide, which Vodafone took over last year.
