Deirdre Kane could be forgiven for getting a little emotional after winning the coveted Best Dressed title at Ladies Day at the RDS.

It wasn't the shock of the €10,000 prize from Dundrum Town Centre that made her eyes well up, but the fact she has been battling TB and the mother of two from Carlow has finally turned the corner.

Her Grace Kelly-inspired look was the epitome of vintage elegance. She said she might spend some of her winnings taking husband Roland on holiday to the Cote d'Azur where Grace Kelly filmed 'To Catch a Thief'.

Ms Kane was certainly catching lots of compliments for her chic turban look, which started off with a €29.50 cream dress from Buy Design in Crookstown, which she had tailored.

A vintage turban she bought on Etsy was remodelled with gold bow and pearls and she finished off the look with shoes from River Island, a brooch on her shoulder which belongs to her mum, and vintage gloves.

She was entirely at home in the Ballsbridge showgrounds as she has bred a winner for equestrian competitions and rides dressage.

"That's my other madness," Ms Kane laughed.
