Vile messages abated since Kenny outburst

THE vile messages and threatening calls received by Taoiseach Enda Kenny in the wake of the abortion legislation debate have abated after the Taoiseach went public about the abuse.

Mr Kenny is still receiving dozens of calls and letters a day to his constituency office in Castlebar, Co Mayo but the level of abuse has lessened in recent weeks.

Ger Deere, Mr Kenny's parliamentary secretary, said "There is still quite a number of emails and letters coming in but it seems to have abated."
