Victim of Garda car crash named
GSOC probe continues in to death of Eamon Carroll
A pedestrian killed when he was struck by a Garda car has been named by investigators.
Eamon Carroll, a 32-year-old man from Bellurgan, Co Louth, died when he was knocked down by a patrol car.
The Garda Siochana Ombudsman Commission (GSOC) is investigating the fatal road traffic accident, which happened at approximately 1.20am outside Bellurgan, on the R173 Carlingford to Dundalk road.
The stretch of road remained closed until mid morning as investigators examined the scene.
"The incident was referred to the Garda Ombudsman for independent investigation in accordance with Section 102 of the Garda Síochána Act," said a spokeswoman.
