A MAN killed in a motorbike crash was due to get married next year.

The close-knit rural community of Dripsey, Co Cork, is in mourning following the death of Garry Cotter (32).

Mr Cotter, from O'Mahony's Terrace, Dripsey, was killed when his motorbike was in collision with a car on Sunday afternoon on the R618 near Iniscarra Dam.

He has been remembered as a popular and hard-working man.

Former local county councillor Tomas Ryan said Garry was very "well-liked" in the close-knit community.

"I saw him grow-up. He was outgoing. He loved his motorbike and cars and he respected them," said the former councillor.

Mr Ryan said that Garry's family was "devastated" and that his fiancee, Rosanne, who is from Coachford, was "shattered".

His removal takes place this evening at 7.30pm to St Mary's Church, Berrings, Co Cork.
