TRANSPORT Minister Leo Varadkar has been giving a helping hand to Fianna Fail -- by getting his team to take down the party's election-poster cable ties.
His party volunteers used ladders and loppers to take down 10,000 cable ties which had been used to hang up posters in the Dublin West constituency.
The cable ties have become a serious problem nationwide, with some candidates leaving them behind after removing their posters. Mr Varadkar was in Blanchardstown yesterday to hail the work of his team, who put in about 200 hours removing the ties.
And he was quick to point out the cable ties that had been used to put up posters for local Fianna Fail TD Brian Lenihan and his running mate David McGuinness.
"As you can see, they are from all parties. The black ones are from Fianna Fail," he said.
