Vandals are forced to clean up their act
TWO young men who defaced road signs on the outskirts of a city have been forced to remove their graffiti -- in full view of drivers.
The pair were caught by gardai vandalising property in Limerick.
As a punishment, they were asked to take part in a restorative justice programme, which is designed to make offenders more aware of their actions and the consequences.
Motorists heading towards the Coonagh Roundabout on the Clare/ Limerick border looked on as the two men cleaned the graffiti off the road signs.
The scheme has been praised by councillors and businessmen. "It is time these vandals are humiliated in public," one businessman said.
One of the pair, from Killaloe in Co Clare, said the reason he kept daubing premises in a distinctive red pattern was because he was "addicted" to it.
