Ulster underdogs hope to reach peak
THE next time they touch down at Belfast International Airport, the Ulster rugby team intend to have some very special hand luggage.
They have been labelled the underdogs, but Ulster's men could today taste Heineken Cup glory for the first time in more than a decade.
Supporters flooding on to early morning flights to London yesterday shouted last-minute well-wishes to Ulster's 23-man squad as they filed through the airport. Confidence was high as the team boarded a 50-seater charter flight.
"I'm very, very hopeful of bringing the Heineken Cup back to Belfast," Lawrence Caldwell, president of the Ulster branch, said.
But the rugby veteran was visibly shaking at the task ahead. "I thought I was really nervous playing Munster -- but I am really nervous now," he said. "It's the peak of rugby."
