UK police join hunt for stolen luxury vehicles
POLICE in the UK were last night helping gardai to search for three top-of-the-range cars, stolen from a garage forecourt, writes Greg Harkin.
The vehicles -- thought to be worth close to €150,000 -- were stolen in the early hours of yesterday from Colm Dillon Cars in Manorcunningham, Co Donegal.
Mr Dillon said he did not want to give details of the cars because the case was at "a sensitive stage".
Security sources believe the cars may have been taken into the North by an organised gang who will try to move them to Britain. The PSNI has been alerted about the raid.
Garda technical teams spent yesterday examining the scene. They believe the thieves spent a "considerable amount of time" on the premises.
Up to 30 other vehicles were left untouched.
Mr Dillon said: "I can't say anything at the moment. I would prefer to allow gardai to do their job. This is just awful. They wrecked the place when they were here."
A garda spokesman said: "A full investigation into this incident is currently under way."
