Gardai seized a firearm and arrested two teenagers after a group of males fled from gardai on patrol in Limerick yesterday.
The arrests were made in the Jonesboro area of Limerick.
The discovery of the firearm was made when a number of males fled from gardai patrolling McDonough Avenue yesterday afternoon.
One round of ammunition along with an iron bar, a baseball bat and a number of other items were also seized.
The firearm is currently undergoing a ballistic examination.
The two men, in their late teens, arrested in connection to the incident are currently detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
The investigation is ongoing.
