Two staff members locked in room during early-morning robbery foiled by gardai

A MAN has been arrested following reports of a robbery early on Saturday morning, during which two shop staff were locked in a room.

Gardai are investigating the incident at a premises in Finglas in Dublin.

"At approximately 7.30am uniformed Gardaí were alerted to a robbery-in-progress at a shop in the Hampton Wood area of Finglas.

"Upon arrival Gardaí forced entry into the shop where they discovered a man wearing a balaclava armed with a crowbar.

"Following a brief struggle the man was apprehended.

The man was arrested and brought to Finglas Gardaí station where he is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

Gardai said that two staff members, a man and a woman, were found locked into a room inside the premises. They were not physically harmed during the incident.
