TWO pipe bombs and the components of a third were found at a house in Drogheda late last night.

The devices were discovered by gardai following a planned search at the house in Moneymore housing estate.

The army bomb squad were called to the scene and made the two devices safe at the scene, with a number of houses understood to have been evacuated in the process.

A spokesman for the Defence Forces confirmed to Independent.ie that the third object found were the components of a device, though not a live device.

The devices were taken by the Defence Forces to Dublin at around 11.30pm last night, in a blast box for examination back at base.
