Two people killed following road accidents in Roscommon, Clare

Press Association

An elderly woman was killed this morning following a single-vehicle collision in Co Roscommon. The accident happened just before 11am at Mockmoyne on the Boyle to Ballymote Road.

The woman, who was the only occupant of the vehicle, was taken to Sligo General Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

The road was closed to facilitate a forensic collision examination and diversions were in place.

This was the second road fatality in less than 24 hours. A 30-year-old man died in hospital last night after an accident on the Ennis to Tulla Road in Co Clare.

Another man, aged 23, is being treated in the Mid-Western Hospital in Limerick.

The crash happened three miles from Ennis at Clooney Church at 7.50pm.

Gardai have appealed for witnesses to contact Boyle Garda station 071 966 4620, Ennis Garda station 065 684 8100 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
