Two Motorcyclists killed in separate collisions

TWO motorcyclists have died in two separate incidents today.

At around 1.50 p.m. a 50 year-old man was fatally injured when the motorcycle he was driving collided with a car on the R755 at Ballinastoe near Roundwood, Co. Wicklow.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body has been removed to St. Columcille’s Hospital for a post mortem examination.

A second motorcyclist and the driver of the car were also injured in the collision and were taken by Ambulance to St. Vincent's Hospital. Their injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

The road is closed, diversions are in place and forensic collision investigators are at the scene.

Meanwhile gardaí at Ballincollig in Cork are investigating a separate road traffic collision which occurred on the Cork to Macroom Road (N22) in an area known as Garryhesta at around 5.15pm.

A man motorcyclist was fatally injured when his motorcycle collided with a wall. N

o other person was involved.

 

His body remains at the scene.

 

The road is closed to facilitate a Garda forensic examination.
