Two men quizzed on shooting

Two men were being questioned by gardai last night after officers seized two rifles and cash following a shooting incident, writes Tom Brady.

Three shots were fired through the front window of a house at Hazel Hill, Tallaght, in south county Dublin, shortly before 1am.

A man in his 30s, who was living alone in the house, was asleep at the time but heard the noise and ran outside with a bat in his hand.

The attacker ran off and the occupant returned to the house.

In follow-up searches gardai recovered two rifles and €7,000.

Two suspects in their 30s were arrested and were being held last night at Tallaght garda station.
