Two men die following crashes in Tipperary and Sligo

TWO men have lost their lives following separate road collisions overnight.

A 34-year-old motorcyclist died when his bike collided with a car at 10pm last night in Thurles, Co Tipperary.

The collision occurred at Boulick, Gothnahoe, Thurles. The female driver of the car was not injured in the crash.

A post-mortem was expected to take place today and gardai are appealing for witnesses.

Meanwhile, a 22-year-old man has died after he was struck by his trailer in Co Sligo.

Gardai are investigating the tragic incident which occurred at Clogher, Monasteraden in Sligo, just off the R294 Boyle to Gurteen Road.

The collision occurred at approximately 6.20pm last night.

The victim was the sole occupant of a tractor drawing a trailer.

The man fell from the tractor and sustained fatal injuries when struck by the trailer.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The road was closed this morning to facilitate forensic and technical examinations.

A post-mortem was due to be carried out later today at Sligo General Hospital.
