Two gardai injured after patrol car rammed by stolen van

TWO gardaí were injured after their patrol car was rammed by a stolen van earlier today.

It is understood the incident happened in the Dullargy area of Dundalk, Co Louth,  at around 5.30pm this evening.

After ramming the stolen van into the patrol car, it's alleged the driver continued into town before crashing the van. 

It's believed the driver was armed with knife and ran at gardai twice before he was arrested.

The two gardai were removed to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda for medical examination.
