Two gardaí and a woman were taken to hospital after a ramming incident on Thursday morning.

Gardaí followed a Volkswagen Golf into a service station in Kiltale in Meath at around 11:30am.

The driver of the car then attempted to make an escape, but reversed into a civilian car and injured a female.

The suspect car then rammed the Garda car and fled the scene.

Two of the suspects also fled the scene on foot but were followed by both Gardaí.

One 18-year-old suspect was arrested on suspicion of burglary and is being detained at Trim Garda station under the provisions of section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 as amended.

The injured female and two Gardaí were taken to Connolly Hospital, Blanchardstown for treatment.

The suspect car was found a short time later in a field approximately one mile from Mullagh Cross on the Summerhill to Dunboyne Road.

Local Gardaí are being assisted by the Air Support Unit in a search of the area.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses who may have seen this car - a silver VW Golf - in and around the Kiltale area, or being abandoned at Mullagh Cross to contact them at Trim on 046 9481540, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
