Two communities have been devastated after the deaths of two men in separate accidents in Donegal and Louth.

Father-of-three Noel McDermott (43) was killed while out cycling when he was involved in a collision with a car at 4pm last Friday outside the West Donegal village of Gortahork.

Mr McDermott, originally from Letterkenny, had moved to Brinlack, Gortahork, where he lived with wife Aifric and their children.

He was a member of St Eunan's GAA Club in Letterkenny, as well as a stalwart of Errigal Cycling Club.

Meanwhile in Co Louth, a 32-year-old motorist died following a single-vehicle crash around 1am yesterday at Mullacapple, near Ardee.

The dead man was named locally as Conor Farrell from Mountrush, Ardee, Co Louth.
