GARDAI in Waterford investigating the murder of Martin Brophy arrested two men this morning.
The men are being detained at Waterford Garda Station under Section 4 of Criminal Justice Act 1984.
It is believed that the body of Mr Brophy may have been lying dead in an abandoned building for up to 24 hours before his body was discovered by teenagers on Monday.
A post-mortem on the body of the 22 year-old revealed that he had been assaulted.
He was found with head injuries in a former college building at about 5.30 on Monday evening.
The last confirmed sighting of him was in the Poleberry area of the city at about 4pm on Saturday evening.
Mr Brophy's partner Mary Smith was said to be "devastated" by the death and was "too upset" to speak to the media.
The couple were together for four years and have a two-year-old son, Davin.
"You couldn't meet a nicer lad," her mother, also called Mary Smith, said.
"He was sound out, quiet. He idolised his family . . . he was a devoted dad."
Mr Brophy's partner last saw him on Saturday when they celebrated a family first communion with the Smiths.
