Two adults and a child have been rushed to hospital after a house fire in Ballymun in Dublin in the early hours of the morning.

The blaze broke out at their home on Belclare Crescent at 12.45am.

One of the adults sustained a broken ankle as they jumped from an upper storey to escape the flames.

Three units of Dublin Fire Brigade fought the fire and both the adults were transferred by ambulance to the Mater hospital.

The child was taken to Temple Street children’s hospital.

An investigation into the cause of the fire was expected to take place today.
