Tween queens get high street range all to themselves

Never underestimate the fashion eye of tweens, especially during confirmation season

Teenage knowledge of catwalk looks and colour trends is immense as high street brand Oasis has discovered.

This month it has responded to the young style queens by introducing a range called Wonderland, which caters for 12 and 13-year-olds looking for scaled-down dresses to wear for their Confirmation.

Five styles with shorter hemlines, bold prints, mesh inserts and cut-out details are aimed at the size six shoppers and reports at the Oasis spring summer 2013 press day yesterday confirmed that the concept is selling well, with prices from €69.

Confirmations present a tricky fashion quandary for parents who favour classic looks and daughters who pile on the pressure for younger, directional looks.

There is also an exclusive element in the mainline Oasis offering this season, with wearable art by Rebecca Lefevre.

The talented Central St Martin's graduate created beautiful prints which juxtapose mundane, everyday objects with vibrant colour combinations.

Rebecca's pieces are restricted to a limited edition capsule collection.

A striped pencil skirt costs €56 while a skater skirt dress with gentle pleat detail on the front is €100 and a fluoro scallop jacquard shift dress is €94.
