Troubador pens a Parisian protest

HE IS fast becoming known as Ireland's rebel troubadour, and now he has written a protest song in the wake of the Irish defeat in Paris on Wednesday.

Dublin singer The Mighty Stef has penned "a protest song with no name" to highlight his anger at the 'Hand of Frog' cheating scandal, which denied Ireland a place in the World Cup in South Africa.

Amid the national clamour for justice, the Smithfield singer recorded a home-made, low quality video of the song, posting it up on YouTube on Thursday before debuting the song on Phantom FM on Friday afternoon.

And since its upload to the Internet, the song has created a storm, with over 3,000 hits in less than 48 hours and messages of congratulations flooding the website.

Speaking about the song, the singer said: "It won't change anything but it's all I really know how to do . . . write these little songs."
