Trick-or-treaters beware, thunderstorms are on the way

Be prepared to incorporate umbrellas into your Halloween costume tonight.

Showers will be prevalent throughout the country with temperatures of eight degrees.

Met Eireann forecaster Deirdre Lowe said: "It's going to be a blustery day, it won't be too cold, but there will bea number of showers.

"Wind is spreading in from the west, some will be heavy, some thundery.

"Showers will mostly frequent the north and western coasts, but all areas are in for a shower.

"There will be some sunny spells today with temperatures from 10 to 13 degrees.

"Not widespread, locally heavy showers and risk of thunder, showers moving through quite quickly, midlands north and west most at risk

As for tonight, wrap up warm with more layers, and a raincoat at the ready.

"Winds should start to moderate a bit this evening, expect along coastal areas.

"Showers will also start to decrease and gradually become confined to Atlantic coasts."

For this weekend, plan some indoor activities.

"It's going to be rather cold, wet and rather windy in many places on Saturday.

"A depression is predicted to move across Saturday which will bring heavy rain and could bring strong winds as well as it moves across."
