Aspiring actress Jasmine McMonagle has been buried alongside her grandmother Rose in her native Co Donegal.

Hundreds of people walked the short distance from St Mary's Church in Castlefinn to the nearby graveyard to say farewell to the 28-year-old. The mother of two was found dead at her home in Killygordon, which she shared with her two young daughters, in the early hours of Friday.

Mourners, including Jasmine's mother Jacqueline, sister Jenna, brother Christopher and her daughters, were told she was a caring person who always put others first. When her grandmother passed away when she was 17, Jasmine got a tattoo with the words 'Gran Rose' on it to remember her by. Fr Oliver Crilly said it was fitting that Jasmine would now be laid to rest alongside her beloved grandmother.

"But bereavement around Christmas time is harder. Bereavement associated with cruel trauma is the hardest of all," he said.

Richard Burke (27), Jasmine's former partner, appeared at Sligo District Court on Saturday charged with her murder.
