Traders roll into town for great designs
The country's best and brightest designers of jewellery, millinery, pottery, clothing ,fragrances and many other crafts have made the RDS home for the next three days.
President Michael D Higgins yesterday launched Showcase 2015 - the country's largest international trade fair - and paid tribute to Irish designers who, he said, have "enhanced the country's reputation" worldwide.
Among those promoting their wares and looking to secure some of the €20m in sales generated over the course of the expo is milliner Fiona Mangan, who has designed hats for Zara Phillips and Rosanna Davidson.
"This is my second year. It's a great way to show your wares and your business," explained Fiona, who is based in Galway.
Fragrance company Max Benjamin returns to Showcase after some years away.
Co-founder Mark Van den Bergh said they were back to engage with customers here.
"It's really important because this is the main Irish trade show. The trick is to get in the door of a retailer and serve them well," he said.
