Toby finding his sea legs again
It will be a few months before volunteers at a seal sanctuary will be releasing a premature seal pup back into the wild.
'Toby' was found on a beach in Co Sligo, where it is thought increased activity on the water during the fine weather might have scared away his mother, causing her to abandon her new-born pup.
Ali McMillan is manager at Dingle Wildlife and Seal Sanctuary where Toby is receiving around-the-clock care by volunteers.
"Usually if they're on land it's for a reason, like they're sick or have been injured," she said. "Also, they should not be touched. These animals can bite and human scent may lead to mothers abandoning otherwise healthy pups."
