Three years on, Tom has founded his own business

IN the three years since he lost his job as a purchasing officer in Dell, Tom O'Keeffe has founded his own business, done several courses and worked part-time for Apple.

"I'm very happy as regards what was done for me,"he said.

"It was a pity it didn't happen earlier, but I wouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth."

Mr O'Keeffe (58) wishes support had come sooner because he did a one-week course in personal development soon after he finished up in Dell, and paid out €2,500 for it himself.

Once the support scheme for Dell workers was launched, Mr O'Keeffe put in for a Life Coaching course in Cork and got the €2,500 fees fully paid for. He got a diploma in that at the end of 2010.

He is now throwing himself into developing the life coaching business 'Forward Directions'.
